CLAUDIA ROTONDI is Full Professor of History of Economic Thought at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the Catholic University of Milan Italy, where she teaches history of Economic Thought and Development Economics.
Since 2012 she co-ordinates a Master’s degree in international Cooperation Development Policies. She is in the Board of Directors of the Research Center of Economic Analysis and International Economic Development (CRANEC) and in the Executive Committee of the University Centre for International Solidarity. She is a Corresponding Member of the Istituto Lombardo - Accademia di Scienze e Lettere and she collaborates with the History Commission of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. As STOREP and AISPE (Associazione Italiana per la storia del Pensiero economico) member, she has participated in the initiatives of both associations also by organising scientific sessions.
She has published several articles on themes relevant to economics (types and forms of market, regulation, institutions, development, gender gap) highlighting how the history of economic thought can provide an added value to understand past and present situations, and for this reason giving particular attention to the links between economic theory and political economy. Associate Editor of Economia Politica - Journal of Analytical and Institutional Economics, she has recently published the book L’economia utile (Il Mulino, 2022) and “In the Name of Equality. Women' Action to Shape the Right to Work in the Italian Constituent Assembly” in the volume edited by Manuela Mosca Women at Work in Italy (1750–1950). Their Economic Thought and Actions (Springer 2024).
